FOHI’s First Annual Science and Engineering Fair
Matthew Barrera, Vice President, Staff Writer
Fontana High School hosted its very first Science and Engineering Fair on campus during December. Mrs. Aguilar, Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, teacher organized and hosted this event for all students to attend and participate. Students who participated had to pick an up-and-coming topic that could greatly improve our world, research into this topic with its effects, and create a presentation or poster board to show students and judges. 13 groups of students presented their ideas and projects which included a Solar Oven, Bubbleology, Soccer Physics, and an Air Cannon Experiment.
The people’s choice and top three groups, which are decided by judges, receive medals and get the chance to move on to compete at the district level. From the district students are able to go even further to county and state level. The People’s choice award was awarded to the Solar Oven group, third place was awarded to Salt 2 Fresh, and second place was awarded to Magnetic Train. Fontana High School’s first place winner for the first annual science fair was Cinnamaldehyde which was done by Daniel Villasenor.
As these groups won top three in this fair, they moved on to district level. With amazing results our FOHI scholars came back with a first, second, and Superintendent trophy. For this being FOHI’s very first Science and Engineering Fair our scholars persevered and pushed through to represent their ideas and research.
