This is in no way a comprehensive list, but I think there is a lot of very good restaurants near FOHI: in walking distance, and for affordable prices. Here are some of them.
The first entry on our list is Juan Pollo. It took me and the boys about 12 minutes to get there by walking out the front gate and making a right down Citrus Ave. The location is in the same plaza as a gas station. The restaurant is quaint with a few small tables, ill-equipped for large gatherings; thankfully, it has very quick service. I was able to get a half chicken meal which came with two sides for 12 dollars and 2 drinks, a Horchata and Orange-whip for another 6. The chicken is salty, juicy, greasy, tender, and well-seasoned. The potato salad is divine, the beans are okay, and the rice is very good. Overall, I had a pleasant time at Juan Pollo, and I recommend it.

The next entry is Tacos El Guerro. The place is just a bit further than Juan Pollo. Once you get to Juan-Pollo you are going to walk past the parking lot and continue down a diagonal street called “Fontana Ave.” until you get to an unusual intersection; from there you continue down Merril Ave. This place is very cheap- I got 4 grilled chicken tacos for 10 dollars, and they were very good. The sauce was especially appealing. Me and the boys were able to get there in 22 minutes, walking at a leisurely pace. The place was very cramped, and the tables were small, there was large selection of toppings available, and the soda was weirdly overpriced.

The last entry for this list is Lucy’s Diner. You can get there by making a left out of the front gate and walking down Citrus Ave; it took us about 15 minutes to get there. Lucy’s is popular for affordable good service and generally good quality. Although, I believe the best part is the quantity of food they serve. Don’t ever make the mistake of ordering extra fries because you’ll be bringing them home. They can give you a whole meal with more than enough fries for around 9 dollars which is pretty good for the quantity of food. The restaurant is cramped, and well decorated with tables suited for large groups. The most expensive meals are no more than 17 dollars, although most are around 7dollars. I ordered fish and chips which was just “okay” as it was far too crispy and bland for my taste. However, the burgers are pretty good. The standout items on the menu must be the shakes and fries which are better than anything a fast-food chain could offer. There is also a notably large variety of food on the menu. I see myself returning to this diner to try all it has to offer.
