In recent weeks, the weather has been significantly hotter. Going to school was such a drag! But fortunately, FOHI students were saved from the heat, and were blessed with a FOHI Fall Rally! To liven up our 2024-2025 school year, our wonderful ASB team presented to us a Pokémon-themed experience!
Being the patriotic and American school we are, we initiated our rally with the Presentation of the Colors from our FOHI ROTC. At this rally we were introduced to a new singer, Jayden, who sang our National Anthem. And what a pleasant surprise to have a guy to sing this time! The first segment ended smoothly, as always, with the Retirement of the Colors.
We were then introduced to our emcees for the day: Genesis and Charrie! Then it was time to introduce our FOHI fall sports and first up: Football. We do not know what new era they are in, but they are killing it in the recent games, going from zero scores to consecutive wins! (Yippee for those forty-ate scores!)
Next sport, we had our Girls’ Volleyball team! Thanks to their high energy and passion, there is never a dull moment in their intense games! (And congrats to them for achieving 1st place in their last game!) And next: the Cross-Country team! Who would have thought that while they run all day, but one thing they never run out of is energy!
Known for their successive wins in their games, next up was the Boys’ Water Polo team. Our very own mermaid team! And the sports segment was concluded with the official debut of our Girls’ Flag Football team! And kudos to them for getting a touchdown on their first game!
During intermissions who would have expected a minion cameo! But he left as quickly as he came. But rest assured, Pikachu was there to keep the crowd company!
Continuing the rally, ASB produced a fant-ash-tic game of “Who’s That Pokémon?” It brought great fun to both staff and students alike.
Our next segment was the long-awaited reveal of the Homecoming theme! Since this year’s party is taking place in October, the theme is (drum roll): directed by Tim Burton! That is right! Prepare for a spook-tacular gathering in the week of September 30, and do not forget about the Dance on October 5th!
Following the HOCO announcement, Sindelar enlightened us of the 72nd anniversary of FOHI’s premiere on September 13, 1952! And, even if our school’s unsung hero, Paul Jamerson, is no longer with us, PJ the mascot will still be his living legacy for us to love and cherish.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the rally was short and sweet, and we ended the day with our Alma mater. And pokéball that is.
