As we all know, Fontana High School has multiple extraordinary clubs for our students and staff to enjoy attending or celebrating. This article will introduce readers to Fontana High School’s latest addition to possible clubs to join- The Gardening Club. This club is extremely eco-friendly and comes along with many different benefits for our school and our peers; let us go through them.
Gardening Club members meet every Tuesday and Thursday after classes in room A204 to begin their work on maintaining the garden on our campus. That’s right, we have a garden on our campus- our very own Wellness Garden- which has unfortunately been abandoned for the past 3 years! Luckily for us, we have amazing people on our campus that have taken the task to fix up our FoHi garden. These wonderful people decided to create a new club, dedicated to encouraging the growth of the garden and cleaning areas around our campus.
When speaking with the club president and vice president, Ana and Angel, more details about the club and their plans for the future were provided. Firstly, they have already began multiple projects within the club, starting with removing weeds or garbage from the area to funding for their club’s plant developments. With the help of their advisor, Mrs. Escobar, and support from their members and even Mr. Hanger’s construction class, they have been able to remove unnecessary barriers, and create a safer environment for their soon to be flower residents. Their future plans revolve around caring for more plants and flowers to create an atmosphere of a gorgeous garden, meaning they are currently funding to buy seasonal plants that are easier to maintain healthily. They wish to keep flowers and plants that they are able to keep alive without constant stress in order to keep their garden growing rather than ending quicker than planned.
Thankfully for these amazing people who want to save an abandoned garden from roaming gophers and harmful weeds, we will soon have our wonderful Wellness Garden back in tip-top shape. Due to their generous actions in funding for the club, seeking new members, and active engagement in renewing the garden, we can expect to have not just a better garden, but a better campus. They wish to have their club be supported as community hours by our school since for every meeting they hold, members that are not able to help with garden maintenance are invited to clear our campus of any disposable items. Giving garden club our support and help will lead us to having a healthier environment along with a beautiful view for all our staff and students.
If you wish to ask any questions, you may contact Garden Club’s President and Vice President on their instagram account @fohigardeningclub or meet with their members in A204 afterschool every Tuesday and Wednesday. Make sure to watch out for any of their humorous posters around campus and in their socials.
