XC Varsity Pre-league Finals
All about the successes of Fontana High School’s Cross-Country team.
Hector De Dios, Sports Writer
Fontana High School’s cross-country team has had a promising season thus far. They have been training for hours every day since the beginning of summer, and it has been paying off with good finish times at challenging races. There have also been many medals awarded to our athletes at invitationals, so congratulations to all of them.

As of October 11th, the team has raced their third league meet and will go on to compete in league finals later this month. Our league –the Sunkist league- consists of Rim of the World, Arroyo Valley, Summit, Carter, Fontana, and Bloomington high schools. Both the men’s and women’s side of the team are ready to prove themselves at league finals.
Assuming requirements for CIF qualification do not change, men’s varsity should move on to CIF prelims in November.

Congratulations to tentative men’s and women’s varsity members: Micah Wattson, Nicolas Juarez, Matthew Barrera, Hector De Dios, Sean Maldonado, Jorge Melara, Joselyn Rodriguez, Briana Powell, Dorian Torreblanca, Jazmine Morales, Joselyn Lopez, Kaylie Molina, and Marilyn Barajas. The JV team and especially these athletes have made Fontana High School proud.
